Take the APC Written Exam From Home

Great news for international physiotherapists: you can now complete the APC Written Assessment from your own home anywhere in the world. With the launch of the Australian Physiotherapy Entry Pathway (APEP) in October 2025, the entire assessment pathway is now 80% remote.

Written Assessment Options

You have two choices for where to sit the Written Assessment:

Option 1: Remote (From Home)

• Take the exam from your personal location anywhere in the world
• Live web proctoring with strict invigilation
• Exam time varies based on your timezone

Option 2: In-Person

• Melbourne or Sydney venues only
• Start time: 9:00 AM AEST/AEDT
• Limited seats available

Important: There are NO international test centers (like Pearson VUE or Prometric) for this exam. If you're outside Australia, the remote option is your only choice.

Written Assessment Format (APEP 2026)

Important: The pass mark is NOT based on getting a certain percentage correct. The APC uses Rasch measurement modelling to calculate a scaled score. You need 500 points to pass.

Technical Requirements

• Reliable high-speed internet connection
• Computer with webcam and microphone
• Quiet, private room with no interruptions
• Clean desk/workspace visible to proctor

Environment Requirements

• No other people in the room
• No notes, books, or study materials visible
• No mobile phones or secondary devices
• Proper lighting so your face is clearly visible

ID Requirements

• Valid government-issued photo ID
• ID must match your registration name exactly

How to Register for Remote Exam

1. Complete Eligibility Assessment - Submit qualifications and documents to APC
2. Receive approval - APC confirms you're eligible to proceed
3. Log into Candidate Portal - Access portal.physiocouncil.com.au
4. Select exam date - Choose from available sessions
5. Choose remote option - Select "Remote Assessment" when booking
6. Pay fee - Written Assessment costs $1,958 AUD
7. Complete tech check - Verify your setup meets requirements before exam day

Tips for Remote Exam Success

Before Exam Day

• Test your internet connection multiple times
• Do a full system check using APC's technical requirements guide
• Practice in the same room you'll use for the exam
• Ensure family/housemates know not to disturb you

On Exam Day

• Log in 30 minutes early
• Have your ID ready for verification
• Close all other applications on your computer
• Use the bathroom before starting (breaks count against your time)

During the Exam

• Keep your face visible to the webcam at all times
• Don't look away from the screen for extended periods
• Speak to the proctor if you have technical issues
• Flag difficult questions and return to them later
